Procter & Gamble Australia has been made aware of incorrect labelling of Vicks VapoRub Xtra Strong ointment 100g jar sold in plastic jars and packed in carton boxes. Some jars in 1 specific product batch 222605 of Vicks Vaporub Xtra Strong 100g have been incorrectly labelled as Vicks Vaporub ointment 100g.
There are several differences between the two products – levels of active ingredients, excipients, warning statements and usage instructions. While the jar label refers to the carton for full usage instructions and consumers are encouraged to keep the carton, some consumers may throw it away and be guided by the incorrect information on the jar label.
No other batches of Vicks VapoRub Xtra Strong are affected.
To date, no adverse events related to this mislabeling have been reported. |

Retailers are advised to immediately remove the affected products from the shelves and stop sale of the affected batch of VVR Xtra Strong 100g to prevent further supply to consumer.
Consumers are advised to check the packaging carton or the jar label for the affected batch number. Alternatively, the affected product will have a VapoRub Xtra Strong red lid and the standard Vicks VapoRub ointment 100g label. If a jar from the affected batch is identified, discontinue use and return it to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement.
This action has been reviewed and is considered complete in accordance with the requirements of the URPTG. |
