Microbiological testing identified Total Aerobic Microbial Count (TAMC) results above the finished-product specification of not more than 100 CFU/g in batches V772 and V773. The organism identified during the wider investigation was Pluralibacter gergoviae. The source and point of introduction remain under investigation.
Clinically significant infection is unlikely in a healthy consumer using the product as directed on intact skin. However, a residual risk cannot be excluded where the cream is applied to broken, irritated or compromised skin, where there is accidental mucosal exposure, or where the user is medically vulnerable.
No other Deep Heat Extra Strength 100g batches and no other Mentholatum products are included in this recall. |
